The Illinois College men's tennis team achieved significant victories on their conference road trip, defeating Ripon and Lawrence in Midwest Conference duals on Saturday. They first won against Ripon with a solid 6-1 score and later triumphed over Lawrence with a 5-2 victory.
These wins were part of a three-match winning streak for Illinois College.
In the match against Ripon, the Blueboys won two out of three doubles matches, establishing a 1-0 lead with Glenn Conway and Jeff Wernsing gaining victory at No. 1 and Grayson Dupree and Titus Ashford at No. 3. The team won all singles matches, with Tajas Zalas, Grayson Dupree, Wernsing, and Ashford each winning in straight sets, while Conway and Andres Dupree secured their wins in three sets.
The later match against Lawrence saw Illinois College once again claim two out of three doubles matches, bringing them to another 1-0 lead. Victories came from Zalas and Andres Dupree at No. 2, and Grayson Dupree and Ashford at No. 3. In singles, wins from Wernsing (No. 2), Conway (No. 3), Grayson Dupree (No. 5), and Ashford (No. 6) earned the team the overall win.
The Blueboys are set to continue their Midwest Conference play on Wednesday when they host Monmouth at the Bellatti Tennis Complex, beginning at 4:00 p.m.
