IC splits doubleheader against Beloit College with a win and a loss

IC faced off against Beloit College in a Midwest Conference doubleheader, ending the day with a win and a loss. In the opener, IC secured a 6-0 victory. Pitcher Jordan Closs delivered a standout performance with a two-hit shutout and 12 strikeouts, improving her season record to 6-3. Delaney Melton and Ezzy Mauermann capitalized on Beloit errors to score, while Kendall Cole hit a solo home run. IC added more runs in later innings to secure the win.

Beloit turned the tables in the second game, winning 3-2. IC initially led 1-0, courtesy of Cambria Currie's run from a Beloit error. Beloit equalized in the fourth and scored twice more in the sixth. IC tied the score momentarily when Melton scored on another error. Despite the efforts of Currie, Melton, Lilly Siller, and Brooke Loveall, who each got hits, IC couldn't seal a second win. Avery Fritz pitched 5 1/3 innings, allowing three runs on four hits and achieving six strikeouts.

Following this split, IC's record stands at 13-15 overall and 4-2 in conference play. Beloit holds a record of 3-26 and 1-6 in the conference. IC continues its series with a game against Lake Forest.
