Lily Ingram achieved a significant milestone by becoming the all-time winningest singles player for the Illinois College women's tennis team. The team secured a 4-3 victory over Southwest Illinois College on Thursday at the Bellatti Tennis Center.
The doubles round was claimed by the Blue Raiders, winning two out of the three matches. The Lady Blues managed a doubles win at No. 3, with the pair of Sabrina Ingram and Sophi Barrow achieving a 6-2 triumph.
Singles matches were closely contested, with three requiring tie-breakers. Lily Ingram recorded her historic 36th career singles victory with a straight-sets win at No. 4. The Lady Blues' victory was bolstered by Sophie Muir's straight-set win at No. 2 and tie-breaker successes from Sabrina Ingram and Michelle Maag.
Next, the Lady Blues will compete against Kaskaskia in Centralia, Ill., on Tuesday. The match is scheduled for 4:15 p.m.
