Jarrett James leads Illinois College to victory at McNaughton Memorial

Senior golfer Jarrett James matched his record for the lowest score against par at Jacksonville Country Club on Monday, leading Illinois College to a decisive win at the McNaughton Memorial. The Chester, Illinois native shot a 67 (-5), claiming the tournament by five strokes. His performance included birdies and eagles, starting with a birdie at the first hole and an eagle at the second. He finished the front nine with a score of 34 and added another eagle on the par-5 12th, closing the back nine with a 33.

Other notable performances from Illinois College came from Myles Kampwerth, who scored an even-par 72. Teddy Walbaum recovered from a slow start to post a 74 (+2), Tobin Nell recorded a 76 (+4), and Dylan Clark contributed a 78 (+6) to complete the scoring for the school's A team. The Blueboys ended with a team total of 289 (+1), securing a large 26-shot victory.

The Illinois College B team came in second place with a score of 315. Cole Bartels led this group, shooting a 78 (+6), followed by Isaac Anderson, Caden Tinsley, and AJ Odle, each with scores of 79 (+7). Emmitt Brokaw finished with an 82 (+10).

The C team secured fourth place, led by Bryce Knackstedt, who finished fifth individually with a 78 (+6). Bryson Hall and Ian Otto each scored 84, with Devin Brown adding an 86 for a total team score of 332.

Elsewhere in the tournament, Blackburn College came in third with a 325, and Eureka finished in fifth with a score of 416. Illinois College's next competition will be in Decatur, Illinois, at a tournament hosted by Millikin University at South Side Country Club and Red Tail Run.
