Illinois College men's golf team holds third after day one at SLIAC Championships

The Illinois College men's golf team is in third place after the first round of the SLIAC Men's Golf Championships held at Timbergate Golf Course in Edinburgh, Indiana. The Blueboys achieved a team score of 298 (+10) on the opening day.

Myles Kampwerth led the team with an even-par 72, finishing the round in sixth place. He recorded five birdies during his initial 18 holes. Teddy Walbaum contributed with a score of 74 (+2), securing 11th place, while Jarrett James and Dylan Clark both scored 76 (+4), tying for 18th overall.

Mississippi University for Women currently leads the tournament, having delivered an impressive performance with a score of 279 (-9). They are ahead by 14 shots over Lake Forest, which sits in second place with a score of +5.

The Blueboys will continue their efforts tomorrow as they return to Timbergate Golf Course for the second round of this 54-hole championship. They are set to tee off at 10:00 a.m., aiming to narrow the gap with two days left in the competition.
