Brigadier General John M. “Marty” Green honored upon retirement

On May 22, 2025, Brigadier General John "Marty" Green was honored by State Representative Wayne Rosenthal and the Illinois House for his retirement as Air National Guard Assistant to the Air Force Deputy Judge Advocate General in Washington, D.C. House Resolution 313 was passed to congratulate him on this occasion.

Representative Rosenthal, himself a retired Air Force General, praised Brigadier General Green's nearly three decades of military service and legal accomplishments. He noted that Green is admitted to practice law before several courts including the Illinois Supreme Court and has served in various capacities in civilian life, such as Senior Vice President and Legal Counsel for the Illinois CPA Society.

Brigadier General Green's role involved advising on legal matters related to the operational support of Air National Guard Wings for federal missions and state duties. His notable contributions include serving during Hurricane Katrina and at the NATO Summit in Chicago. He also traveled to Poland multiple times to teach U.S. military justice.

Throughout his career, Brigadier General Green received numerous awards including the Legion of Merit and the Meritorious Service Medal with two Oak Leaf Clusters. His educational background includes a bachelor's degree from Western Illinois University and a law degree from Saint Louis University Law School. He also completed several military courses.

In addition to his military service, Brigadier General Green has been active in academia as an adjunct instructor teaching Homeland Security courses and has been recognized with awards such as the Alumni Achievement Award from WIU.

Representative Rosenthal concluded by emphasizing Brigadier General Green's lifelong dedication to public service and extended well wishes for his retirement.
