The Illinois College softball coaching staff has been recognized as the 2025 Midwest Conference Coaching Staff of the Year. The announcement was made by the league today.
Head Coach Samantha Mendez, along with assistant coaches Kiwi Moran and Payton Cloe, led the Lady Blues to a successful season with an overall record of 25-18 and a conference record of 13-3.
The team demonstrated strong performance towards the end of the season, securing victories in 13 out of their last 17 games. In addition to the coaching staff's accolade, junior pitcher Jordan Closs received recognition as both the Midwest Conference Pitcher and Newcomer of the Year last week.
Closs was also named to the first team all-conference squad alongside her classmates Kendall Cole, Taylor Henry, and Brooke Loveall. Sophomore Shelby Seiler earned a spot on the second team.
