State Representative Martin McLaughlin (IL) | Representative Martin McLaughlin (R) 52nd District
After attending a congressional hearing in Washington, D.C., Illinois State Representative Martin McLaughlin expressed his concerns regarding federal and state policies. McLaughlin, a Republican representing the 52nd district, criticized what he perceives as an agenda that prioritizes non-citizens over American taxpayers.
“It’s simple: the Democrats want to take more of your money and give it to non-citizens,” McLaughlin stated. He voiced his disapproval of both federal and Illinois leadership for focusing on illegal migrants instead of addressing the needs of citizens, particularly those paying taxes in Illinois.
McLaughlin took issue with remarks attributed to Governor J.B. Pritzker concerning the status of illegal migrants compared to Illinois citizens. “When Governor Pritzker says that illegal migrants may be more worthy than many existing Illinois citizens, that’s not just outrageous—it’s offensive,” said McLaughlin. He argued this stance undermines the sacrifices made by hard-working families in Illinois.
Highlighting the financial burden on working families, McLaughlin pointed out that they face high tax rates while essential public services are underfunded. “We are paying more and getting less,” he continued. He urged leaders at both state and federal levels to prioritize citizens over funding systems that support illegal entry into the country.
McLaughlin committed to advocating for taxpayer protection policies benefiting communities such as Algonquin, Libertyville, Barringtons, Fox River Grove, Island Lake, and Wauconda. “We need to respect the rule of law, and put Illinois citizens first,” he concluded.
