Union Pacific Railroad is set to unveil a new commemorative locomotive in Springfield, Illinois, honoring its founder, Abraham Lincoln. This event marks the 163rd anniversary of Union Pacific.

The railroad company traces its origins back to the Pacific Railroad Act of 1862. This significant piece of legislation was signed into law by President Lincoln and authorized the construction of the nation's first transcontinental railroad. The project eventually expanded Union Pacific's reach from the Pacific Ocean to Chicago.
