GHS Track Replacement
The project was awarded to Byrne and Jones (B&J) at the January 24, 2024 board meeting. The track project was started at the end of July 2024 and was turned over to the district in October 2024. New asphalt was installed in September 2024 but some neighborhood kids were able to access the site on bicycles and damaged a portion of the track on the east and west sides before the asphalt cured. The district funded the repairs on the east side and the west side was deemed repairable by applying two layers of spray on track surface. On November 14, 2024 a punch list visit was attended by athletics, facilities, Graham and Hyde Architects and Byrne and Jones (B&J) which revealed that the tire tracks and footprints were not covered up on the west side. B&J has agreed to replace approximately 150’ of track surface, including asphalt on the west side track at no cost to the district. B&J was onsite the week of March 3, 2025 to paint the fence that were covered in overspray when they applied the surface material. They plan on being onsite the week of June 9, 2025 to begin the removal and replacement of the 150’ section of the track.
