Illinois College honors 228 athletes for academic achievement

Illinois College has placed 228 student-athletes on the Academic All-Midwest Conference list for the 2024-25 academic year, as announced by the league. To qualify for this recognition, student-athletes must maintain a minimum 3.33 GPA, earn a varsity letter in one of the conference's 18 sports, and participate in at least half of their scheduled contests.

The Midwest Conference acknowledged a total of 1,670 student-athletes for their achievements both academically and athletically during the past academic year. The honorees come from nine core member institutions and two affiliates across various sports disciplines.

The announcement included notable students from Illinois College in multiple sports categories such as men's and women's cross country, football, soccer, tennis, volleyball, basketball, track & field, swimming & diving, baseball, and softball. Each student listed demonstrated excellence in balancing their educational pursuits with athletic commitments.

Among those recognized are Robby Biesenthal (Men's Cross Country), Kairy Mercado-Ramos (Women's Cross Country), Freddie Alvarez (Football), Paul Adam (Men's Soccer), Stella Gonzalez (Women's Soccer), Sophi Barrow (Women's Tennis), Ella Ausmus (Volleyball), Brady Clark (Men's Basketball), Bianca Adubato (Women's Basketball), Nathan Barth (Men's Indoor Track & Field), Deja Anderson (Women's Indoor Track & Field), Matthew Billenstein (Men's Swimming & Diving), Emma Dunsworth (Women's Swimming & Diving), Connor Akstulewicz (Baseball) and Kendall Cole (Softball).

These recognitions highlight Illinois College’s commitment to fostering an environment where students can excel both in academics and athletics.
