Illinois State Representative Charlie Meier is organizing a blood drive in partnership with the Troy/Maryville/St. Jacob/Marine Chamber of Commerce and ImpactLife. The event will take place on Thursday, September 11, from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Chamber of Commerce located at 647 US Hwy 40 in Troy.
Earlier this year, Rep. Meier shared that he had been diagnosed with prostate cancer. After undergoing radiation treatment, he reports doing well and is seeking ways to give back to the community. Before his diagnosis, Meier had donated more than 120 pints of blood.
"Following radiation treatment, he is doing well and looking to give back," the announcement states. "Prior to his diagnosis, he had donated over 120 pints of blood and understands that a small blood donation can make a big difference and change a life."
Community members interested in donating are encouraged to schedule an appointment online or by calling ImpactLife at 800-747-5401. Additional questions can be directed to Rep. Meier's district office.
Meier has served as a Republican member of the Illinois State House since his election in 2023, representing the state's 109th House District after succeeding David Reis.
