Rep. Martin McLaughlin (R-Barrington) is organizing a series of property tax appeal events for Lake County residents in August. The initiative aims to assist homeowners interested in filing a property tax appeal for 2025.

Residents can access several resources to help with the appeals process. These include Rep. McLaughlin’s Property Tax Appeal Presentation, which provides guidance on how to navigate the process (https://repmclaughlin.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/56/2025/08/McLaughlin-PTA-LAKE.pdf). Additional information and assistance are available through the Lake County Assessor's Office (https://www.lakecountyil.gov/4915/Chief-County-Assessor) and the Lake County Board of Review (https://www.lakecountyil.gov/157/Board-of-Review).

Those looking to file an appeal can find forms and rules at https://www.lakecountyil.gov/507/Board-of-Review-Forms and submit appeals online via https://www.lakecountyil.gov/551/Online-Appeal-Filing. Special instructions are also provided for property owners in Cuba, Ela, and Grant Townships (https://www.lakecountyil.gov/DocumentCenter/View/77352/Appeal-Instructions-for-property-owners-in-Cuba-Ela-Grant-Libertyville-Shields-and-Vernon-Townships).

Contact information for township assessors is available at https://www.lakecountyil.gov/3266/Contact-Your-Assessor. Residents can search for their property details in Cuba, Ela, and Grant Townships at https://imslake.org/SD/Lake/Default.aspx or conduct a broader search using the county's property database at https://tax.lakecountyil.gov/search/commonsearch.aspx?mode=realprop.

Questions about these resources can be directed to Rep. McLaughlin’s office at 224-634-8300.

McLaughlin has represented Illinois’ 52nd House District since his election in 2021, succeeding David McSweeney.
