The Illinois College women's cross country team finished second at the Titan Opener held Friday evening at Maxwell Park in Bloomington, Illinois. The event saw three Lady Blues runners place in the top 10.
Caroline Peters led the team with an eighth-place finish, completing the course in 13:19.0. Bailey Downing, making her collegiate debut, finished ninth with a time of 14:15.1. Claire Peters rounded out the top 10 for Illinois College by finishing tenth in 14:48.3.
Other notable performances included Ashley Watson and Morgan Carrino, who placed eleventh and twelfth respectively, both running their first collegiate races. Paiton Waggoner took thirteenth place and Michelle DeJaynes finished fourteenth.
The Lady Blues will next compete at the UIS Prairie Stars Invite in Springfield. The meet is scheduled for next week with races beginning at 5:30 p.m.
