The Illinois College women's tennis team began its season with a split performance at the Webster Groves Recreation Center on Saturday. The Lady Blues lost their first dual against Wartburg by a narrow 4-3 margin before securing a decisive 7-0 victory over Webster.

In the opening match, Wartburg swept all three doubles contests, taking an early lead that ultimately determined the outcome. Illinois College managed to win three out of six singles matches, with victories from Clara Bach at No. 2, Sophie Muir at No. 3, and Lily Ingram at No. 4 singles positions.

Following the loss, the Lady Blues rebounded strongly in their second dual against Webster. They won every doubles set: Wise and Bach teamed up for a win at No. 1, Muir and Lily Ingram secured No. 2, and Sabrina Ingram with Morgan Keefe completed the sweep at No. 3.

Illinois College continued their momentum in singles play against Webster by winning all six matches in straight sets. Victories came from Wise (No. 1), Bach (No. 2), Muir (No. 3), Lily Ingram (No. 4), Keefe (No. 5), and Sophi Barrow (No. 6).

Looking ahead, the Lady Blues will travel to Decatur, Illinois to face Millikin on Wednesday, with the match scheduled to begin at 4:00 p.m.
