The Illinois College men's golf team improved their performance in the second round of the Highland Championships, finishing tied for seventh place in their season opener at Rock Island.
Senior Myles Kampwerth led the Blueboys with a two-day total of 143, which is the fourth-best 36-hole score in program history. Kampwerth shot a 70 on Sunday and followed up with a 73 on Monday, recording four birdies and placing 11th overall.
Teddy Walbaum posted the team's lowest round of the day with a one-under 71, including five birdies and a front-nine score of 33. Walbaum finished tied for 34th alongside teammate Emmitt Brokaw, who also carded a 73 in the second round to finish five-over for the tournament.
Drake Bartos contributed to the team’s total by rebounding from his opening round to shoot a 77 on Monday.
The Blueboys’ combined score over two days was 593, marking the third-lowest 36-hole team total in program history as they begin their 2025–26 campaign.
Illinois College will compete next at the Cougar Fall Classic on September 8 and September 9 at Metamora Fields Golf Course. The event starts at 9:00 a.m. on Monday.
