Illinois College freshman Macie Petropoulos has been recognized as the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) Women's Golf Player of the Week, according to an announcement from the league on Tuesday.

Petropoulos delivered a strong performance in her first collegiate tournament at the Highland Championships, tying for second place individually. She started with a three-over 75 and followed with a 77, finishing eight-over par for the event. Her two-round total of 152 placed her among the top performers at the tournament and set new marks in Illinois College history.

Her opening round score of 75 is now recorded as the ninth-lowest single round in program history, while her total score of 152 ranks as the fourth-best 36-hole result all-time for Illinois College. Petropoulos's efforts contributed to a fifth-place team finish for the Lady Blues at their season opener.

Petropoulos, who is from Springfield, Illinois, is also noted as the first Illinois College golfer to receive SLIAC weekly honors this season.

The team’s next competition will be at Jacksonville Country Club on Monday, September 8, for the Country Club Classic starting at 10:00 a.m.
