State Representative Martin McLaughlin is organizing a free event for local residents to dispose of prescription drugs and shred documents. The event will take place on Saturday, September 13, 2025, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at 28662 W. Northwest Highway in Lake Barrington.

The annual event offers community members the opportunity to safely get rid of expired or unused medications and securely destroy sensitive paperwork. Both services will be available on a first come, first serve basis.

Residents planning to attend are asked to limit their documents to two bankers boxes per vehicle so that more people can participate.

McLaughlin, a Republican, was elected in 2021 to represent Illinois' 52nd House District, succeeding David McSweeney.
