Illinois College's volleyball team opened its season at the Wisconsin Lutheran Quadrangular on Friday, splitting two matches against Loras College and Wisconsin Lutheran.
In their first match, Illinois College secured a 3–2 win over Loras. The sets were closely contested, with scores of 22-25, 27-25, 24-26, 26-24, and 15-11. Riley Drake led the team with 20 kills and 17 digs. Laura Kaiser contributed significantly at the net with a .583 hitting percentage, totaling 15 kills and five blocks. Summer Brandis provided 33 assists for the Lady Blues, while Mady Salisbury collected a team-high 27 digs. Reagan Oster added three service aces as Illinois College finished with nine aces in total.
The second match saw Illinois College face host Wisconsin Lutheran. After winning the opening set 25-23, Illinois College dropped the next three sets by scores of 25-21, 25-20, and 25-18. Alyssa Burglund recorded eight kills and five blocks to lead her team in both categories for this match. Delani Klaas added seven kills while Haylie Orton posted six kills in two sets played. Salisbury anchored the defense again with another strong performance of 18 digs. Brandis and Kahli O'Neal combined for a total of 28 assists during the contest; however, Illinois College was limited to a .106 hitting percentage as Wisconsin Lutheran registered a total of nineteen service aces.
The Lady Blues will conclude their trip by facing St. Norbert College at the Time of Grace Center at Wisconsin Lutheran.
