Late goal lifts Greenville past Illinois College women’s soccer

Greenville secured a 2-1 win over the Illinois College women's soccer team in a non-conference match held Wednesday at England Stadium in Jacksonville, Illinois.

The result leaves Illinois College with a record of 3-4-1 for the season, while Greenville improves to 2-4-0.

Greenville took an early lead, scoring at the 18:44 mark. Illinois College responded later in the first half when Holly Morehart scored her first goal of the season, assisted by McKenzie Murray, tying the game at 29:31.

The match remained even until Greenville scored again late in the contest, netting the decisive goal at 88:17.

Illinois College outshot Greenville 17-8. Olivia Ralston led Illinois College with four shots. Abbi Renwick, Katy Adler, Holly Morehart, and McKenzie Murray each contributed two shots.

Stella Gonzalez started as goalkeeper for Illinois College but did not record any saves. Jesse Trost played in goal during the second half and made two saves.

Illinois College will play its next game on Thursday against UHSP in St. Louis at 7:30 p.m.
