Illinois College Esports splits matches with win in Valorant, loss in Rocket League

Illinois College Esports secured a 2–0 victory against Wisconsin–Eau Claire in Valorant but suffered a 1–4 defeat to Jamestown in Rocket League on Monday.

In the NECC Valorant match, Illinois College won both maps, with scores of 13–10 on Ascent and 14–12 on Lotus. Dwight Duijneveld led the team with 62 kills, achieving his sixth career series with more than 60 kills. Fray Moulton contributed 43 kills and had a KDA of 2.33. Jonest Eisfelder and Ekko Nguyen made important plays that helped close out both maps.

For the Rocket League MVEC contest, Illinois College took Game 3 by shutting out Jamestown 2–0 but lost the overall series after dropping four games. Lucas Barry scored four goals and provided three assists during the match, while Duijneveld and Glenn Conway also played key roles in offense and defense.

Looking ahead, the Rocket League team will play their next NECC match against University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point at 8:30 pm on Wednesday, October 8th. The Valorant team is scheduled to compete against Coe College at 7:00 pm on Tuesday, October 7th.
