Ball-Chatham Community School District 5 Finance Committee met Sept. 16

Key Points:
District office update
The Village of Chatham has submitted an offer of $175,000 for the purchase of the District Office located at 201 Mulberry Street, Chatham, IL. The contract has been sent to the district’s attorney for further review. This item will be presented for discussion and/or approval at the upcoming board meeting.
FBI Tower lease to be signed
We have now received payments for May, June, July, and August. The September payment will arrive in late October or early November. The FIB fiscal year begins October 1, there is always a short delay before the first payment is issued. Going forward, we will receive $2,500 per month for at least one year. The FBI will be wrapping up installation today, September 16th.

Upcoming Facilities Projects
Expected Fund balance at end of FY26 $7,868,999
Expected Revenue per year $5,500,000.00
FY26 expected projects are:
• BES HVAC
• BES roof replacements
• BES parking lot (depending on quotes of other projects)
Maintenance/Electrical Bucket Truck
The committee discussed the district’s potential need for a bucket truck to support maintenance and operations. Further conversations will be held with the maintenance department to review the scope of use, specific needs, and potential benefits.
Athletic Costs
The committee is reviewing the costs associated with athletics and clubs, including both district expenses and revenue received. A full breakdown of all athletic and club costs to the district will be presented at the October Finance Committee meeting.
