Illinois College goalkeeper Stella Gonzalez has been recognized as the Midwest Conference Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week, according to an announcement from the league.
Gonzalez, a sophomore from Hampton, Illinois, contributed to two wins for Illinois College during the week. Her performance helped secure the program's first-ever berth in the Midwest Conference Tournament. In a match against Monmouth, she made nine saves, and in a subsequent game against Grinnell, she achieved a shutout with six saves.
The Illinois College women's soccer team will conclude its regular season on Saturday with a home match against Lawrence at 11:00 a.m.
