Illinois State Representative Mike Coffey (R-Springfield) recently hosted an RX Drop Off Event in Springfield, partnering with the Sangamon County Sheriff’s Office and Sheriff Paula Crouch to collect used and expired prescription drugs from local households. The initiative aimed to help prevent unused medications from falling into the wrong hands, especially children.

Coffey expressed his gratitude for the collaboration and community turnout. “I want to thank the Sangamon County Sheriff’s Office and Sheriff Paula Crouch for joining me in safeguarding our community by collecting used and expired prescription drugs from households in Springfield! I was overwhelmed by how many people attended our event. This event really makes a difference by keeping these drugs away from children and the DEA does a great job with the collection process,” said Coffey.

He also acknowledged the support of those who participated: “We appreciate everyone who stopped by the RX Drop Off Event today!”

Coffey, a Republican, has represented Illinois’ 95th House District since 2023, after succeeding former state representative Tim Butler.
