State Representative Mike Coffey (R-Springfield) recently visited Express Employment Professionals in Springfield as part of his “Mike on Main Street” business tour initiative. The visit aimed to provide Coffey with a better understanding of businesses within Illinois’ 95th District.

During the meeting, Coffey learned about the company’s operations, its history, and how state policies have affected their work. Express Employment Professionals was established in 1983 and operates as a family-owned business with a network of franchise locations focused on connecting job seekers with employment opportunities.

“Express Employment Professionals created a very robust business model to help job seekers across Illinois enter the workforce and have long-term job security,” Coffey said. “The team here in Springfield is passionate about connecting people with their dream job in areas such as skilled trades, accounting, truck driving, and even entry level and executive positions. Their mission is to give people hope, purpose, and opportunities to live a better life.”

Coffey also addressed challenges faced by local businesses due to state regulations. “The team here is really making a positive impact on our workforce, however there are major challenges they face due to Illinois policies that create hurdles for businesses,” he said. “We must get back to the basics, because more red tape from Springfield can stifle opportunities.”

Coffey has served as the representative for Illinois’ 95th House District since 2023 after succeeding Tim Butler. The district includes parts of Sangamon County—such as Springfield—and extends into Macon and Christian Counties.
