The Sangamon Valley, Illinois Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC) discussed a hazardous materials commodity flow study (CFS) and grant funding at its recent meeting.
The CFS would be completed under the FY 2015 budget. Under the approved grant funding, the contract with Johnson, Depp and Quisenberry (JDQ) will not account for reviewing rail car counts associated with the study. As a result the committee will take data from area rail stations, but it would not be analyzed unless an increase in funding is recorded. Total grant proceeds has decreased, the committee noted. The allocation for this year is approximately 35 percent of what it had been one year ago.
Also at the meeting, a total of $15,535 was approved under the Hazardous Material Emergency Planning (HMEP) Grant. With this announcement, it was noted that the activity of the committee should be focused on the transport of hazardous material over roads and rail lines.
The committee also reviewed the meeting minutes from its previous meeting. These minutes were accepted on a unanimous basis.
