Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker signed 124 bills into law on Friday, addressing issues such as library security, Chicago police and fire pensions, and military funeral honors. The full list of new laws can be found at Gov. Pritzker Takes Bill Action.

Among the legislation signed was a bill sponsored by State Representative Mike Coffey. Senate Bill 1550 allows library grants administered by the Secretary of State to be used for improving or enhancing security at libraries throughout Illinois.

Coffey, a Republican, was elected in 2023 to represent the state's 95th House District, succeeding Tim Butler.
