Springfield Park District board discusses date for communication tower hearing

Spd

The Springfield, Illinois Park District Board of Trustees discussed a potential date for a public hearing on a communication tower during its recent meeting.

The communication tower would belong to Crown Castle and it would be placed in Iles Park. This tower would be replacing another tower located to the east of the park.

The tower is to be removed to make way for a high-speed railway corridor. At the time of the meeting a public hearing was still be scheduled with members of the Iles Park Neighborhood Association.

The board also discussed the lease for Barker Park Property for terms that are identical from the previous year’s agreement, which consists of 15.7 tillable acres for $3,700. The agreement is between the park district and James Heissinger. This was approved with all present members voting in favor.

During this meeting the corrective grant of easement with Prairie Power Inc. in Gurgens Park was also voted for approval in a unanimous vote.

Minutes from the board’s previous regular meeting on Dec. 17 and from a special meeting regarding taxes on Dec. 10 were reviewed by trustee members and both were approved by a voice vote.
