The Greater Springfield, Illinois Chamber of Commerce issued details this week on its strategic priorities with regard to the Quantum Growth Partnership (Q5).
The chamber noted the partnership is concluding its second five-year cycle at the end of 2016. As the Q5 enters its next cycle, it will be focusing on continuing economic growth, workforce expansion, advancing diversity, urban revitalization and transformational leadership.
Within the area of economic expansion the chamber and other Q5 partners will be identifying means to improve its measures relating to its Business Retention and Expansion (BRE) program and it aims to implement a development policy that fosters competitiveness and diversity in the business community.
Q5 will also be working toward aligning educational opportunities with the needs of local businesses and establishing partnerships between schools and local employers. These measures would attempt to grow the number of qualified workers within the 18 to 35 age range and to retain them.
For diversity advancement, the partnership aims to increase diverse representation among commission leaders and members in the community. The Q5 program will also be aiming to increase mentorship and employment programs for young people.
Q5 involves representation from private, nonprofit and public sectors of the county and the overall goals are to foster job growth and facilitate economic growth.
