Yearlong road closures begin Monday for Springfield railroad project

Meet

Several Springfield streets will be closed starting Monday as work continues on the Springfield Railroad Relocation and Construction project.

The roads affected are Ridgely Avenue, between Union Pacific Railroad and 12th Street; Factory Street from Ridgely to Pluto Avenue; Black Avenue between Union Pacific Railroad and 11th Street; and 11th Street between Black and Ridgely Avenues.

Depending on weather conditions, city officials project that the road closures will last until summer 2017. Drivers are asked to avoid the closed roads and follow the marked detour routes while traveling in the area. Motorists will be fined up to $250 if they ignore the “Road Closed” or “Do Not Enter” signs.
