Lincoln Library Board in Springfield retains non-resident library card

Meeting 11

At a recent meeting, the Lincoln Library Board of Trustees in Springfield voted to continue offering a non-resident library card for $80.

Below are the minutes from this meeting, as provided by the board.

Board present: Helen Cox; Christina Cray; Arden Lang, Vice President; Katherine Starks Lawrence, President; Stuart Shiffman

Board Absent: Davida Fanniel; Larry Harvell; Dr. Donald Ross; Marty Ryan, Secretary

Staff present: Nancy Huntley, Director

Public present: None

President Starks-Lawrence called the meeting to order at 12:01 p.m.

Minutes: The minutes from the April 27, 2016, Lincoln library board meeting were approved following a motion by Ms. Cray and a second by Ms. Cox. The motion carried.

Unfinished business:

Foundation community member - Ms. Cox proposed appointing Dan Greer to fill the community member vacancy on the foundation board. Mr. Greer is a local tax attorney with several years' experience, including assisting a local church with their financial records. Ms. Land made a motion to accept Ms. Cox's recommendation to appoint Mr. Greet to the foundation board. Mr. Shiffman second the motion and the motion carried.

New Business

Non-resident agreement - Ms. Cox made a motion to accept director Huntley's recommendation to continue offering a non-resident card. Mr. Shiffman seconded the motion. The motion carried.

Non-resident fee - Ms. Lang made a motion to keep the non-resident card fee at $80. Ms. Cray seconded the motion and the motion carried. The non-resident card fee is calculated using a mathematical formula provided by the Illinois State Library.
