Sangamon County Jail Committee met April 4.

Here is the minutes provided by the Committee:

Members present: Joel Tjelmeland (chairman), Catie Sheehan (vice chairman), Tony DelGiorno, Annette Fulgenzi, Tim Krell, Tom Madonia, and George Preckwinkle.

Members absent: Rose Ruzic & Linda Douglas-Williams

Others present: Sheriff Wes Barr, Chief Joe Roesch, Superintendent Larry Beck, Coroner Cinda Edwards & Mary Carter (secretary)

Chairman Tjelmeland called the meeting to order at 12:02 p.m.

Tjelmeland requested a motion to approve the minutes of ა. 2017 Jail Committee meeting. Motion was made by Sheehan & seconded by Krell. Motion carried (7-0).

Reports:

Sheriff Barr-informed the committee that there was ind it appeared to be self-inflicted. On March 18", she was found unresponsive in her cell.She was on life support for an extended period of time. Her name was Tiffany Rusher. The department has already heard from a lawyer in the Chicago area.

Superintendent Beck reported the jail court is 327. Overtime has been up but is trending down. Overtime is due to vacations & vacancies. The commissary sales are up. They had 61 applicants apply for correctional officer openings. 49 of them gave us the appropriate paperwork. There will be a physical agility test on April 15 and a written test on April 29.

Coroner Edwards reported everything is going well in her office. She is presenting pre- travel requests in this meeting but wanted to explain that it is cheaper for Allmon & Burnley to go to Las Vegas than closer, like St. Louis. Edwards also reported that her office has had a few high profile cases that have taken a small toll on her office.

New Business:

Coroner Edwards presented the following:

Pre-travel request for Jim Allmon, Chief Deputy Coroner, to attend the Annual International Association of Coroners & Medical Examiners Conference/Training to be held in Las Vegas, NV, from July 23 through July 29 @ a cost of $2,378.00

Pre-travel request for Shawn Burnley, Deputy Coroner, to attend the Annual International Association of Coroners & Medical Examiners Conference/Training to be held in Las Vegas, NV, from July 23 through July 29 @ a cost of $2,195.00 Madonia made a motion to approve & Fulgenzi seconded. Motion carried (7-0)

Chief Roesch presented on behalf of Tim Eggleston the following:

MJ Kellner approval $11,107.75 Chairman Tjelmeland asked for a motion to approve MJ Kellner. Delgiorno made a motion to approve & Preckwinkle seconded. Motion carried (7-0).

Vehicle Disposal List. Chief said the only vehicle of note is the corvette that was forfeited. Sheehan made a motion to approve & Fulgenzi seconded. Motion carried (7-0)

Old Business: none

Chairman Tjelmeland requested a motion to approve the requisitions for the Sheriff & Coroner. Krell made a motion to approve and Preckwinkle seconded. Motion carried (7-0).

Krell made the motion to adjourn, seconded by Fulgenzi. Motion carried (7-0) and the meeting adjourned at 12:15 p.m.
