Sangamon Sun

Sherman Fire Protection District responded to 53 calls in 2016, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System obtained by the Sangamon Sun.

The calls in Sherman included 22 fires - 14 structure fires, two vehicle fires and six other fires.

In all, the department saw $334,600 in fire loss - or about $15,209 per fire.

The department also received 31 false calls, including three malicious calls and 28 other false calls.

One fire service member was injured in fire-related incidents.
