Williams Township Board of Trustees met Nov. 14.

Here is the minutes provided by the Board:

The regular meeting of Williams Township Board of Trustees was called to order by Supervisor Miller at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday November 14th, 2017. The meeting was held at the Township office.

Those present were: Supervisor Lee Miller, Road Commissioner Rich Bond and Clerk Marla Smith. Trustees: David May, Alan Justice, Jan Halford, John Sweeney, and Assistant Assessor Jason LeMar. Office Manager Debra Booker.

Guest present – Marla Justice, Nadine Hayward & Dale Halford

The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Trustee Sweeney.

Trustee May moved to approve the minutes of the October 10th, 2017, board meeting. Second by Trustee Justice. Motion carried.

Trustee Sweeney moved to approve the monthly bills. Second by Trustee Halford. Motion carried.

Trustee Justice moved to approve payroll for the month of November. Second by Trustee May. Motion carried.

Supervisor Miller asked for public comments. Nadine Hayward was concerned about the cemetery equipment sitting outside. After a lengthy discussion led by Supervisor Miller regarding the concerns, he stated that a spot will be need to be found for the equipment to be inside. The garage where the equipment is stored is shared with the Cemetery, Township & Village. In addition, the date of the original lease agreement between the Village, Township and Cemetery needs located. The Attorney has been contacted regarding the original lease agreement. Options are also being looked out to assist with getting the equipment inside. Highway Commissioner Bond suggested discussing with the Village a possible trade agreement for land to be able to build a separate building.

Road Commissioner Bond reported the Township has put in a large culvert in Sherman, patching has been completed thru out the Township preparing for winter, several intersections were built up and smoothed out. We assisted the Village with overlay were sewer work had been done. He also attended the TOI Annual conference and said that it was beneficial.

Assistant Assessor LeMar reported that he has been getting e-mails and calls regarding assessments. He passed out information from the Department of Revenue it shows that Williams Township is set to receive a multiplier again this year. He reviewed how this information is calculated. He stated that a full re-assessment cycle will take place but it will take time to complete. He then passed out his proposed contract for review by the Board. He will come back in December for the decision of his contract going forward. His contract is being sent for review with the Attorney. He may need some help this coming Spring/Summer with the re-assessment process. He also suggested the Township host an Open House possibly in January or February.

Trustee Sweeney spent time at the TOI Annual conference. He stated that it was very worthwhile to attend. He would like to see us promote the Township and let everyone know what we do.

Trustee Halford stopped in at the TOI office to review calling in for meetings. They stated that this is not allowed and that you have to physically be at the meeting.

Trustee Justice stated dates that he would be available if we do the Open House in January or February.

Motion to approve tax levy for Williams Township by Trustee Justice. Second by Trustee Halford. Motion carried.

Motion to approve tax levy for Williams Township Road District by Trustee Justice. Second by Trustee Halford. Motion carried.

The meeting was adjourned following a motion by Trustee May and a second by Trustee Halford.
