Jimenez resolution dedicates highway to fallen soldier

Rep. Sara Wojcicki Jimenez (R-Leland Grove) is seeing to it Cpl. Chad Young is remembered.

Introduced at the April 20 House floor debate, Jimenez presented HR74, which designates a portion of Route 4 through Chatham as the "U.S. Army Corporal James 'Chad' Young Memorial Highway," to her peers.

Jimenez noted Young’s military career.

According to the bill text, Young “joined the United States Army in 2004; he served in Korea before being deployed to Afghanistan for the first time, returning in late 2007; he was called back for a second tour of duty and arrived in Afghanistan in early June of 2010; where he was assigned to the 863rd Engineer Battalion.”

Young died Nov. 3, 2010, in Nar-Kariz in the Kandahar province of Afghanistan and was promoted to corporal posthumously.

HRJ74 passed 105-0.
