Report: Champaign spent $13,478 per student in 2016-17

Spending per pupil at Champaign Community Unit School District 4 is up 16 percent from five years ago, according to a Sangamon Sun analysis of district finances.

The Illinois State Board of Education 2016-17 report card shows the Champaign County school district spent $11,585 per pupil in 2012-13. It spent $13,478 in 2016-17.

The district saw its enrollment rise over the same period, from 9383 to 10060.

Champaign's spending in 2016-17 was 4 percent higher than the state average of $12,973.
