Riverton Village Board of Trustees met May 7.

Here is the minutes provided by the Board:

The President and the Board of Trustees of the Village of Riverton held a Public Hearing for the 2018-2019 Appropriation on May 07, 2018 at the Riverton Village Hall, Riverton, IL.

The Public Hearing was open from 6:45-6:48 with no public comment.

The President and the Board of Trustees of the Village of Riverton held their regular board meeting on May 07, 2018 at the Riverton Village Hall, Riverton, IL.

The board meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m. Those answering roll call: Mayor Tom Rader. Trustees: Russ Patrick, Dave Charles, Ginger Payne, Jim Mileham, Joe Bartley, and Michelle Landess. Also in attendance were: Chief Lawley, Office Manager Stacy Patterson, Treasurer Rita Baker, and Superintendent Lyons.

The pledge of allegiance was recited.

Trustee Bartley made a motion to approve Ordinance #18-008 Ordinance Approving Appropriation for 2018-2019. Trustee Mileham seconded. Trustees Patrick, Charles, Payne, Bartley, Mileham, and Landess voted yes.

Trustee Bartley made a motion to approve April 16th meeting minutes and pay the bills. It was seconded by Trustee Mileham. Trustees Patrick, Charles, Payne, Bartley, Mileham, and Landess voted yes.

Old Business:

There was no old business on the agenda.

New Business:

Trustee Payne made a motion for the appointment of the committees to stay the same as the previous year. Trustee Bartley seconded. Trustees Patrick, Charles, Payne, Bartley, Mileham, and Landess voted yes.

Trustee Landess made a motion to approve the appointment of Alexandra Campbell as the Village Clerk. Trustee Bartley seconded. Trustees Patrick, Charles, Payne, Bartley, Mileham, and Landess voted yes.

Trustee Patrick made a motion to approve the appointment of Rita Baker as the Village Treasurer. Trustee Bartley seconded. Trustees Patrick, Charles, Payne, Bartley, Mileham, and Landess voted yes.

Trustee Mileham made a motion to approve the purchase of the police vehicle from Landmark East for $31,007. Trustee Bartley seconded. Trustees Patrick, Charles, Payne, Bartley, Mileham, and Landess voted yes.

Trustee Mileham made a motion to approve the advertising for bids for the Police garage and storage area. Trustee Landess seconded. Trustees Patrick, Charles, Payne, Bartley, Mileham, and Landess voted yes. It will open for bids on 06/01/18 at 4:30. The bids will close on 06/04/18 at 6:00.

Trustee Charles made a motion to approve the purchase of the scoreboards for the Field of Dreams with the price not to exceed $7,000. Trustee Payne seconded. Trustees Patrick, Charles, Payne, Bartley, Mileham, and Landess voted yes.

Committee Reports:

Superintendent Lyons presented the board with his report. (See attached report.)

Chief Lawley presented the board with his report. (See attached report.) He is wanting to purchase an outside locked mailbox that gives the community a place to dispose of unwanted illicit drugs or medications. The box gets emptied and the medications collected get sent to the DEA.

Office Manager Patterson had nothing to report.

Treasurer Baker had nothing to report.

Trustee Landess, chairman of the Administrative Committee, had nothing to report.

Trustee Mileham, chairman of the Public Safety Committee, had nothing to report.

Trustee Patrick, chairman of the Public Utility Committee, had nothing to report.

Trustee Charles, chairman of the Parks Committee, thanked the Village employees for their help with the park projects. He also added that the Riverton After Prom was a great success and thanked the Village Fire Department, Police Department and the Village employees.

Trustee Payne, chairman of the Public Works Committee, had nothing to report.

Trustee Bartley, chairman of the Economic Development Committee, stated Trustee Payne and himself attended the SATS meeting in April. The meeting mainly consisted of updates.

Mayor Rader, asked that whoever is available to please attend the Neighborhood Watch Fundraiser on Saturday 05/12/18 at the Riverton Baptist Church.

Trustee Bartley made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 7:21. Trustee Landess seconded. Trustees Patrick, Charles, Payne, Bartley, Mileham, and Landess voted yes.
