San Jose Fire Protection District responded to nine calls in 2017 - 18.2 percent less than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in San Jose included seven fires - four structure fires, two vehicle fires and one other fire.

In all, the department saw $136,500 in fire loss - or about $19,500 per fire.

The department also received two false calls.

The San Jose Fire Protection District had an annual budget of $59,842 in 2017.
