Sherman Fire Protection District responded to 65 calls in 2017 - 22.6 percent more than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Sherman included 32 fires - 16 structure fires, four vehicle fires and 12 other fires.

In all, the department saw $64,500 in fire loss - or about $2,016 per fire.

The department also received 33 false calls, including two malicious calls and 31 other false calls.

The Sherman Fire Protection District had an annual budget of $421,065 in 2017.
