Village of Sherman Board of Trustees met June 5.

Here is the minutes provided by the Board:

Village Board In Attendance:

Trevor J. Clatfelter, President; Pam Gray, Trustee, Bret Hahn, Trustee; Kim Rockford, Trustee; Kevin Schultz, Trustee; Jay Timm, Trustee.

Brian Long, Trustee absent.

Officials In Attendance:

Michael Stratton, Village Administrator; Craig Bangert, Chief of Police, Michael Moos, EMA Director.

Colleen Olson, Interpreter Present.

Byron Painter, Sun-Times.

Public In Attendance (from the sign in sheet):

Josh Carter, Ken Campbell, Sandra Walden, John Miller.

Opening:

1. Roll Call. President Clatfelter requested Acting Village Clerk Stratton to conduct roll call of the Village Board of Trustees. Five members present with one absent. Quorum was present to conduct business.

2. Pledge of Allegiance. Trustee Hahn led the Pledge of Allegiance.

3. Set Agenda. President Clatfelter asked the Board for non-action items to be added to the agenda. No one requested additions to the agenda. President Clatfelter entertained a motion of the Board to set the agenda. Motion by Trustee Rockford, seconded by Trustee Timm. Voice Vote with the Ayes having it (5/0). Motion passed.

Clerk’s Report:

1. Presentation of Village Board Meeting Minutes of May 15, 2018 for Approval. Minutes of Regular Board Meeting of the Sherman Village Board of Trustees of May 15, 2018 was presented for approval. Motion to Approve was made by Trustee Schultz, seconded by Trustee Gray. Roll Call Vote with Ayes having it (5/0). Motion Passed.

2. Presentation of Bills for Authorization for Payment. President Clatfelter asked if there were any questions regarding the bills. No questions presented. Motion to Authorize payment of bills as presented by Trustee Gray, seconded by Trustee Schultz. Roll Call Vote with Ayes having it (5/0). Motion Passed.

Engineering Report. No Engineering Report.

Legal Report. No Legal Report.

Village Administrator & Economic Development Report. No Report.

President’s Report.

1. Prevailing Wage Rate Ordinance. President Clatfelter addressed the Board asking if there were any questions about the Ordinance. There being none, a Motion was made by Trustee Timm, seconded by Trustee Rockford. Roll Call Vote with Ayes having it (5/0). Motion Passed.

Committee/Department Reports. No Reports.

Sherman Police Department Report. No Report.

Trustee Schultz thanked the Police for coordinating the traffic for a recent funeral precession.

Emergency Management Agency Report. Director Moos addressed the Board giving status report on the E-Lert system.

Department Of Public Works Report. No Public Works Report.

New Business:

President Clatfelter noted there was no New Business before the Village Board.

Old Business:

President Clatfelter noted there was no Old Business before the Village Board.

Civic Organizations:

President Clatfelter noted there was no Civic Organization’s scheduled to come before the Village Board.

Public Comment:

President Clatfelter recognized the following persons:

1. Josh Carter addressed the Board and read into the record an email sent from Village Legal counsel to the former legal counsel of the Carter Family. Legal Counsel Craven asked if they had legal counsel or who to address future correspondence. Mr. Carter noted they do not have legal counsel on retainer and to address to him. (Mr. Josh Carter)

Executive Session. President Clatfelter noted no need for executive session.

Message From President Clatfelter:

President Clatfelter addressed the Board to note a few events upcoming in the Village, as follows:

1. June 23 – Green Family Stores “Movie in the Park” with “Peter Rabbit”. Activities prior the movie will be provided.

2. July 4 – Annual Fireworks Show at Waldrop Park.

3. July 20 – Concert at the Amphitheater “Parrots at the Park” by The Boat Drunks a Jimmy Buffet Tribute Band.

4. July 28 - Green Family Stores “Movie in the Park” with “COCO”. Activities prior the movie will be provided.

President Clatfelter also noted additional initiatives that will come before the Board in June and July to include park reservation program, other ordinances regulating activities, in-house street repair projects, in-house path construction Old Tipton School Road and Park Playground Plans.

Adjournment:

President Clatfelter noted there was no further matters to come before the Board and entertained a motion to adjourn the public meeting. Motion by Trustee Hahn, seconded by Trustee Schultz. Voice Vote with Ayes having it (5/0). Motion Passed. Public Meeting was adjourned at 6:19 pm.
