City of Atlanta City Council met June 19.

Here is the minutes provided by the Council:

Open: The regular meeting of the Atlanta City Council was held on Tuesday June 19, 2018 at the Atlanta City Hall. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Fred Finchum at 7:30 pm.

Roll Call: Halley, Eimer, Young, Finchum, Cheek and McVey were present.

Motion by Cheek second by Finchum to approve the minutes as presented.

Young-yes McVey-yes

Motion Carries.

Motion by McVey second by Cheek to pay all bills as approved by their respected chairman or as far as money allows.

Motion Carries.

Marti Nietzel was present to tell the council how she feels about the Golf Course. She felt that valuations are much higher because of the Golf Course. Businesses activity was much higher due to Golf Course. She also complimented the City on its volunteerism within the community.

Sharon Riddle from Wapella was present to compliment the City on its Golf Course. She played 70 times last year. She felt that the citizens were getting a lot for the taxes paid.

Randy Brooks reported that membership was up for the year at the Golf Course.

The City Attorney suggested that the City included prevailing wage in any contract entered into by the City.

The Council took up the possible Circus Fund Raiser. The Council felt that labor to sell tickets was a concern. September 27 was the date given to the City as a possible time. Locations were discussed such as the City’s 15-acre lot.

Motion by Young second by Cheek to wait until next year because of time constraints.

The Council took up Pay Request #4 for $52,500.22 from Laverdiere Construction.

Motion by McVey second by Cheek to accept the final payment request in the amount of $52,500.22

The Council took up the prevailing wage ordinance for 2018.

Motion by Halley second by McVey to adopt the prevailing wage Ordinance

Motion Carries.

The Council reviewed a pay request from Farnsworth Group for Well engineering in the amount of $96,199.45

Motion by McVey second by Cheek to approve the pay request from the Farnsworth Group.

Motion Carries.

Alderman McVey mentioned some cars that needed to be ticketed for no plates. Laverdiere Construction did a great job on our Well project.

Alderwoman Cheek reported the sign on Maple and Third was covered by a tree and it needed trimming.

Alderwoman Finchum also said some yards needed attention. Was pleased to have both of the ladies come and speak highly about the Golf Course.

Alderman Young asked if the refrigerator had been taken care of. He also wanted to discuss the cost of Golf Cart permits on the agenda.

Alderman Eimer reported on positive comments he had heard about the Golf Course. He also wanted to see if the trailer court could be cleaned up. The Mayor stated it was being worked on.

The Mayor explained the history on the disposal of yard waste. A complaint was received about the charge for dumping waste. This charge is levied only for hired work. The Mayor asked the council how they felt.

The Council felt that consideration should be given due to the circumstances involved in this particular case since a disabled citizen was helped in the process.

Motion by Halley second by Eimer to adjourn the meeting.
