Auburn Community Unit School District 10 students suspended 29 times in a single school year

Auburn Community Unit School District 10 reported 29 suspensions for 2016-17, according to the latest student discipline report by the Illinois State Board of Education.

According to the report, the district expelled or suspended 29 students during the year. That equates to 2.1 percent of the 1,364 students enrolled.

Of the 12 in-school suspensions, all were given to boys, all of whom were elementary or middle schoolers.

The district reported that most in-school suspensions were given for violence that caused physical injury. The category includes eight incidents. There were four incidents of unspecified reasons. For 10 incidents, students were suspended for a day or less.

The district reported that most out-of-school suspensions were given for unspecified reasons. The category includes eight incidents. There were five incidents of violence that caused physical injury. For nine incidents, students were suspended for 1-3 days.
