City of Peru Finance and Safety Services Committee met July 18.

THE FINANCE & SAFETY SERVICES COMMITTEE MEMBERS PRESENT: Aldermen Potthoff, Ferrari, Radtke and Payton present; Mayor Harl present.
OTHER PERSONS PRESENT: City Clerk Dave Bartley, ASM/Police Chief Doug Bernabei; PSM/Fire Chief Jeff King; Finance Officer Justin Miller, Human Resource Manager Kim Reese and Economic Development Director Bob Vickrey.

Health Insurance Update

Committee discussed the upcoming ICSC Chicago convention and asked for formal approval at the next regular meeting.
Committee discussed proposed inducement resolutions for 1830 and 1902 4th Street.
Committee discussed left over Hy-Vee TIF increment to flow to downtown property demolition.
Mayor Harl initiated a discussion of regulatory use of city parking lots. The Committee agreed to further research.
NEW BUSINESS
Chief King reported the City sought and received two local bids and compared with the State bid. Schimmer Ford was the local and overall low bidder at $41,312.36. Alderman Ferrari recommended seeking local bids vs the state government option on other purchases.
Alderman Potthoff initiated a discussion to Join Uniquely Northern Illinois Initiative. Committee discussed the commitment of approximately $3,000 per quarter. The Committee recommended participating only when there is a corresponding event.
