BALL CHATHAM COMMUNITY UNIT SCHOOL DISTRICT 5: Ball-Chatham School Board Election Information

Ball Chatham Community Unit School District 5 issued the following announcement on Oct. 30.

The Ball-Chatham Community School District #5 wishes to announce that in preparation for the April 2, 2019 Consolidated Election that includes local school boards, there are four (4) seats on the Ball-Chatham School District #5 Board of Education to be filled. Board seats are determined by Congressional Townships. Membership on the Board of Education is restricted to a maximum of 3 members from any congressional township. On the basis of existing board membership, members may be elected in the following numbers from each congressional township:

Not more than 2 may be elected from Township T14N Range 5W (Ball)

Not more than 3 may be elected from Township T14N Range 4W (Cotton Hill)

Not more than 3 may be elected from Township T14N Range 6W (Chatham)

Not more than 2 may be elected from Township T15N Range 6W (Curran)

Not more than 2 may be elected from Township T15N Range 5W (Woodside)

Not more than 3 may be elected from Township T13N Range 5W (Divernon)

Nomination papers and related materials may be picked up at the District Office at 201 W. Mulberry, Chatham, between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Nomination papers may also be picked up at the Sangamon County Election Office, Room 105, Sangamon County Building, 200 S. 9th Street, Springfield from 8:30 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Due to Public Act 98-0115, candidates for the board of education are now required to file their nomination papers with the County Clerk of the county in which the principal office of the school district is located.

When to File: December 10 – December 17, 2018. Sangamon County Election Office hours are 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. (Monday – Friday).

Where to File: Sangamon County Election Office, located in Room 105 of the Sangamon County Building, 200 S. 9th Street, Springfield.
