St. John's Hospital Springfield Illinois issued the following announcement on Nov. 8.
HSHS St. John’s Hospital and HSHS St. Mary’s Hospital were awarded ‘A’ grades from The Leapfrog Group’s Fall 2018 Hospital Safety Grade. These HSHS hospitals were the only ones in Sangamon and Macon counties to receive this top rating.
The designation recognizes St. John’s and St. Mary’s efforts in protecting patients from harm and meeting the highest safety standards in the United States. The Leapfrog Group is a national organization committed to improving health care quality and safety for consumers and purchasers. The safety grade assigns grades to hospitals across the country based on their performance in preventing medical errors, infections and other harms among patients in their care.
“We’re honored to receive these ‘A’ grades from Leapfrog. This recognition would not be possible without our team’s outstanding commitment to high quality, safe patient care that represents the legacy of the Hospital Sisters of St. Francis,” said E.J. Kuiper, MHA, DPT, FACHE, HSHS Central Illinois Division president and CEO. “Our colleagues are consistently making a positive difference for the patients and families we serve.”
St. John’s and St. Mary’s were two of 855 hospitals across the United States awarded an ‘A’ in the Fall 2018 update of grades.
