Village of Divernon Board of Trustees met Dec. 26.

Here is the minutes provided by the board:

The regular meeting of the Village of Divernon Board of Trustees was held on Wednesday, December 26, 2018 at the Divernon Village Hall. Village President Jim Copelin called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. After the Pledge of Allegiance was recited by all in attendance, Clerk Rod Molnar called roll: Jim Copelin “Here”, Craig Busch “Here”, Wayne Jones “Here”, Melissa Layton “Here”, Larry Baer “Here”, Derek Hedges “Here”, Dianne Brenning “Here”. Also in attendance were Superintendent Jeremy Rhodes and Police Chief Jason Martin.

A motion was made by Jones and seconded by Busch to approve the minutes of December 12, 2018. The motion passed 6-0.

Brenning presented the Village bills with a motion that they be approved after the following invoices were added: Emerson Press $183.56, Paycor $61.83, Grace Price $52.60, Staples $71.73, Sun Life Insurance $62.43. Baer seconded and the motion carried 6-0.

Visitors:

The winners of the annual Christmas lights contest were present. Fire Chief Randy Rhodes presented the Best Traditional award from the Fire Department to Bob and Vicki Caldwell. The Board presented the winner of the Best Light Show to Randal, Judy and Maddie Graeser and the Best Theme to Bob and Mary Boudurant.

Supervisor Reports:

Public Works:

Superintendent Rhodes reported that the plaque honoring Charles G. Brown has been installed in the park.

Police:

Chief Martin supplied a cost estimate for the Personnel Committee to examine for hiring prospective part time officers and sending them through the academy. The Board asked Martin to supply the number of traffic stops that would qualify as ordinance violations over the past twelve months under the plan he submitted.

Committee Reports:

Zoning, TIF, Building Permits:

Nothing to report.

Public Utilities, Water, Sewer and Gas:

Nothing to report.

Finance, Personnel, GIS:

Baer presented three options for holiday bonuses for employees. One option was to give a cash bonus while the others involved giving time off for New Year’s Eve. A motion was made by Jones and seconded by Layton to give full time employees a $100.00 bonus and part time employees a $50.00 bonus. The motion carried 6-0.

Public Safety, Health and Safety:

Nothing to report.

Public Works, Streets, Alleys and Sidewalks:

Nothing to report.

Village Communication/Building Grounds and Lights, Parks:

Busch reported that he had met with the webmaster regarding the new Village website. He can bring it online at any time. He had questions as to how the Village would like to be billed. Busch will see if there is a discount by paying the bill annually. A training session will be set up with Office Manager Rideout.

Old Business:

None.

New Business:

The Board agreed to pay part time officer Jeff Clatfelter time and one half for hours worked on both New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day.
