Report: Ball-Chatham spent $8,809 per student in 2017-18

Spending per pupil at Ball-Chatham Community Unit School District 5 is down 9.6 percent from five years ago, according to a Sangamon Sun analysis of district finances.

The Illinois State Board of Education 2017-18 report card shows the Sangamon County school district spent $9,743 per pupil in 2013-14. It spent $8,809 in 2017-18.

The district saw its enrollment rise over the same period, from 4652 to 4809.

Ball-Chatham's spending in 2017-18 was 34 percent lower than the state average of $13,337.
