Analysis: Midwest Central administrators rank 696th in state for average pay

Administrators in Midwest Central Community Unit School District 191 earn an average of $84,981 per year, ranking 696th out of 864 districts in the state, according to a Sangamon Sun analysis of the latest Illinois schools report card.

The 2018 average is 1.4% lower than in 2014 and 2.2% lower than in 2009. District administrators make 20.8% less than the state average of $107,279.

Administrator salaries depend on the district's size, location and resources, as well as the individual's level of experience and education, according to the Illinois State Board of Education report.

The Mason County school district enrolled 942 students in 2017-18. There is an average of 157 students for every administrator, compared to a statewide ratio of 181 to 1.
