Former state school employee Broderick paid in $39K to teachers' pension fund, could collect $920K in retirement

Former state school employee Nada Broderick, who retired in June 2018, saved $38,802 toward a pension over 10 years working for public schools, Teachers' Retirement System of the State of Illinois records show.

Over 30 years of retirement, Broderick would collect as much as $919,556, according to a projection by Local Government Information Services (LGIS), which publishes Sangamon Sun.

The projection assumes Broderick received $19,328 in the first year of retirement, then 3 percent annual increases thereafter, compounded.

After 2 years of retirement, Broderick will have already received $39,236 in retirement benefits, or more than the sum total of the retiree's contributions to the teachers' pension fund.
