Village of Mechanicsburg Village Board met March 4.

Recognition of Visitors: No visitors were present.

Engineering Report: Phil Weber- An assessment of needed roadwork within the village will take place once the weather improves. Phil will compile a list of roadwork needed to be done and repairs will then be prioritized. Dunn Company will be repairing previous roadwork on 2nd Cross as soon as the weather allows.

Zoning Report: Dorothy Cole- There has been no permits issued.

Police Report: Report reviewed and discussed.

Approval of Minutes: The board approved the February 4th regular Board Meeting Minutes.

Treasurer’s Report: The board approved to pay the monthly bills.

1. Board approval of Ordinance 2019-VOM-005, an ordinance approving an Intergovernmental Agreement with Sangamon County for the “E-Ticket Program” and the Buffalo/Mechanicsburg Police Department.

2. Board discussion/approval of adding additional funds to the annual budget for the purchase of a new Tahoe for the Buffalo/Mechanicsburg Police Department and purchasing the vehicle by March 21st.

Mayor VanPelt has stated that one of the current police vehicles owned by Mechanicsburg is the Caprice and it is currently 6 years old. As a vehicle that is used often and for official police business it is imperative that all vehicles be in great condition. The cost of the new vehicle would be approximately $38,000.

3. Board discussion of needed road repairs. Mayor VanPelt addressed the board and Phil Weber (engineer) in regards to road repairs within the village. The following roads were discussed for repairs: 1 st St., Griffith’s Creek Rd., Griffith’s Creek Neighborhood, N. 4 th to Garvey and the entrance to 4 th Cross. Trustee Burgener was under the impression that the Intergovernmental Agreement with the Township included the repairs to Griffith’s Creek Rd. The mayor will contact Austen to clarify this information and inform the board at next month’s meeting.

4. Board discussion of cleaning and possibly renovating the Village Hall. The renovations were discussed and will be revisited at a later date.

MAYOR’S REPORT-

Mayor VanPelt has stated that there will be a “meet and greet” with Sheriff Jack Campbell on March 13th at 10:00 am the Buffalo Village Hall.

The village garage sale has a tentative date of May 18 th with village clean-up to be June 1st or 8th.

The 4th of July Celebration will take place on Thursday, July 4 th at Community Park.

Mayor VanPelt has suggested that a board member reach out to the previous Easter Egg Hunt coordinator to see if she needs assistance or relief.
